*Check Water Lines and Make Sure That Pipes Are Tightened
One of the first places that you will need to look is the ice maker water line. This may be an instance where the water line has loosened which is making your ice maker leak. If the water line is loose, tighten it firmly to help repair the leaking ice maker. .
*Ice Jams
After checking the ice maker water line, look into the tray and chute of the ice maker. Often times ice comes down in chunks and freezes over these two parts, making it impossible for new ice to get through the chute. When you break up the ice jams into smaller pieces, it allows the ice to continue coming down the chute as normal. You will need to melt down these large junks of ice that have become frozen. They have usually chunked together and have an abnormal shape which can only be melted as a resolution.
*Make Sure The Spigot Is Aligned With the Fill Cup
There is a small spigot which is also called the fill valve which should be aligned with the fill cup. This spigot feeds the water into the fill cup which then freezes it into an ice cube. If there is a problem where the spigot is not aligned, the unfrozen water will go directly into the ice maker compartment and freeze there. This will cause disaster for the little distribution maker and cause leakage.
*Make Sure the Condensation Drain Does Not Freeze Over
Most refrigerators have a condensation drain that is meant to drain excess water from the freezer. This condensation drain may have problems when the automatic defrost cycle for the refrigerator begins. You will want to look for the condensation drain and make sure that there is no frozen ice there. You will want to clean the ice off the condensation drain to fix the leak in your ice maker.
