There are several reasons people need to consider replacement of their air-conditioning systems. In some cases, it might be a minor repair or adjustment that is needed. The following are some things to consider when making the determination to repair or replace the system.      If you have your air-conditioning turned on, but you are not feeling any cooler, this is a sure sign you need to have the system either repaired or replaced. The problem may be caused by a number of factors, including blockage to the air ducts.

When the system is noisy, this is cause for concern. Air-conditioning systems may make some noise when the system is activating because the thermostat has reached the temperature where the system needs to kick in to cool the air. However, this kind of noise should only last for a few seconds. After that, there may be some muffled background noise that lets you know the system is still activated, but it should be quiet enough not to interfere with things like the television volume.

Any kind of odor coming from the system should be investigated because an air-conditioning system that is running efficiently has no odor. The air coming from the system should be fresh and clean.

Comparing your energy bills over the months can also give an indication of need for repair or replacement. If you’re noticing a continuous rise in the amount of your bill over a few pay periods, it may mean that the system is using more electricity than it would if it were running properly.

Any kind of moisture is a sign that something is wrong. Should it build up, there is possibility of mold formation, causing health problems.     If you notice any of these signs, it’s best to get your system checked as soon as possible.
