When you turn on the faucet or wash the toilet, you allow the release of pressurized water from lead pipes, equipment, and hot water tanks. Sometimes, depending on certain conditions, the pipes may make strange noises. The sound of banging on pipes in the wall is not what someone wants to hear. Here is what might cause your noisy plumbing problem and some potential solutions to solve this. There may be different noises; some sound like knocking or even loud noise.

Here are the reasons why your pipes in your home might be noisy.

There are many potential reasons for the noise of pipes in the wall. It depends on whether the problem occurred suddenly or occurred as long as you remember. If for some time the sound did not appear without other symptoms (for example, there is no leakage or loss of pressure), there may be a pipe inside the wall that is not attached or not fastened properly,

Typically, these noises result from the expansion of water pipes. When hot water enters each water pipe or faucet, it heats the pipe by convection, which leads to the expansion of the pipe. Some cases that contribute to excessive noise are when the hole or penetration is slightly smaller than it should be.

If your water pressure is high or uneven, the pipes can also move inside the wall simply because the water is working. If noise occurs only when using hot water, your water heater can be installed without an air chamber between the water heater and the pipe that delivers hot water to the house Other possible causes are excessive water pressure, expansion and contraction caused by temperature changes or air in the pipeline causing a terrible “water hammer”, this alarming popping sound when the valve opens or closes.

Pounding, creaks and rumbling noise can occur in hot water pipes from hot water. Your water temperature should not exceed 140 F. Noise from the hot water can be caused by the fact that your water temperature is above 140 F. If this happens, you should ask the home repair contractor to repair the hot water tank.

If you hear a buzzing sound when you turn on the water, this may be due to the fact that the pipes are tightly attached to the wooden beams of the house. This is caused by the small space between the pipe and the beam to which it is attached. A beam can sometimes act as an amplifier and can make the noise louder than it should. To solve this problem, simply place a piece of foam between the pipe and the beam.

check on noisy pipes to figure out how to fix them. Left unchecked, noisy pipes usually deteriorate with costly plumbing repairs, such as split pipes, rusty pipes or drains.
