Having a heating system is something that everyone should experience at least once in their life as it can guarantee the output of warm temperatures in different parts of a property or home without risking too many things in the process, however, there are lots of things that could go wrong with them for multiple purposes that couldn’t be out of your sight or responsibility, one of these issues is recognized as “kettling” and in case that you never heard of it before it’s time to discover why it is and how it can affect your boiler, stay tuned to learn more.

What is Kettling?

Boilers are part of a heating system, which means that they will be receiving a certain component or residue to work properly which this time is water, and there is nothing in that aspect as there are lots of ways in which water can be transformed into heat just like boilers can do, however, the problem comes when that water that enters to the boiler is not processed with any chemical, and in case that you don’t know it, that no-processed water tends to leave some small compounds or particles of calcium salts or lime that is left inside of the boiler and with time it will start to grow bigger until it becomes a major problem for the user.

Kettling is the term that is commonly used to refers to when a boiler is in fact filled with these calcium salts compounds and starts to deliver some problems that are not only annoying but also dangerous as it can cause some physical damage to the user and to the boiler and other parts of the heating system which is something that you must avoid at all cost as the cost for repairs are not small as those compounds of calcium salt.

How does Kettling Affect your Boiler?

The good thing about modern boilers and heaters is the fact that it won’t matter how big or smaller the particles are, it won’t make the boiler explode or anything like that as there are different gears and modern pieces of hardware that p[revents that from happening, HOWEVER, this doesn’t mean that kettling will not affect on anything your boiler, in fact, you will start seeing a different or strange output of heat and readings on the heater as the water will not be able to find an exit due to the stored calcium salts inside of the heater, making the boiler act in strange behavior and cycle of not correct functionality.

Also, we can’t forget about the fact that it will add a big amount of stress to the system as it won’t be possible to work properly due to the readings and heat anomalies inside the heat exchanger on the boiler, and that is very troublesome as with the pass of time you will definitely have to replace the heat exchanger as it will be too harmed to continue with its regular cycle, and that means that it will be rather useless for a regular basis, so you want to keep an eye on these issues every time if you want to avoid the change of parts of the heating system, good luck!
