How to Unclog Your Toilet Without Calling a Plumber

Method Number 1: Plunging Your Toilet

Step 1: Close the Toilet Flapper

First, you may need to prevent your toilet from overflowing. Try to flush your toilet once. If your toilet seems to not flushing properly, then you may need to remove the toilet lid and reach out for the toilet flapper. Try to close it so that water would not be able to escape to the toilet bowl. The toilet flapper usually is circular in shape and it has a chain attached to it. Don’t worry about getting your hand in the tank as the water in the tank is clean.

Step 2: Cover the Bathroom Floor

You might want to cover the floor with some newspaper or cloth just in case a splashing occurs so that it’s easier later on for you to clean. Besides that, it’s highly recommended that you turn on the ventilation fan so that you may be able to expel the bad odors. It’s also best to wear a pair of gloves made of rubber. This helps to protect you from germs.

Step 3: Try to Clear the Obstruction Manually

If you are able to identify the cause of the clogs, then you may want to try to reach the object and get rid of it if you are able to. However, if you still cannot clear it with your hands but you know that there is something that is stuck there then you may want to use the next method. Otherwise, you might also want to insert a plunger to try to clear the clog.

Method Number 2: Utilizing an Enzyme Product

Step 1: Buy an Enzyme Waste Removal Product

Try to search for a product that has a mixture of enzymes that dissolves waste materials. These enzymes are used to break down the waste so that the clogs may be able to be cleared. This kind of product is usually found in your local home improvements outlets. Enzyme waste removal is best to be used for toilet clogging problems as it does not damage your pipes in any way.

Step 2: Strictly Follow the Instructions

There is an instruction that usually is located at the backside of the product. You will need to follow the exact quantity of the enzyme which is being recommended in the instructions. Pour in that exact amount of enzyme into the bowl of the toilet. Usually, you will need to wait for a day soon after you have poured in the enzyme into the bowl of the toilet. The toilet should be drained the day after once the obstruction has been dissolved.
